Registration

How much does it cost to register?

There is an entry fee of $55, which includes a custom 5x5K headlamp, a FOR GOOD wristband, bib, a recognition medal, and access to five mapped 5K courses around Dallas on May 14-15, 2021. For a $45 entry fee you can get access to four of the 5K courses (your choice), plus the wristband, bib and medal. You may purchase a 5x5K FOR GOOD T-shirt for an additional $20 if you wish.

What do I get?

All registered participants will get a FOR GOOD wristband, bib, a recognition medal and a QR code which will serve as your event ticket. If you pay the full entry fee to sign up for the challenge, you will also receive a custom 5x5K headlamp! If you register with the option to fundraise, you will also get an online fundraising page (that you can customize with your own story and a photo) where you can collect donations to support one of our charity partners.

You choose when to go to each course within the 24-hour race period. Some courses will be open for the entire 24-hour period, while others may close between 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. When you arrive at each course, you’ll scan your QR code to receive a text with a link to your 5K route in RunGo with turn-by-turn directions. 

Can I get a refund if I decide not to participate?

All registration fees and donations to the 5x5K FOR GOOD are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you experience any symptoms of COVID-19, including but not limited those listed here or are quarantined from COVID-19, please do not attend the event. We will provide a transfer to a future event or a refund of the registration fee.

We are committed to keeping everyone involved with the 5x5K safe and healthy and ask that all our participants do the same. Thank you for your understanding. 

What is the deadline to register?

You can register online at any time, up until the event ends at 7:00 p.m. on May 15, 2021.

How old do I have to be to register?

All 5x5K FOR GOOD participants must be at least 16 years of age on May 14, 2021. Participants less than 18 years of age at the time of the event must be accompanied at all times on the event by a parent or guardian who is also a registered event participant.

Event Day

How does this event work?

Before the 5x5K day, we’ll email you a QR code which will serve as your event ticket, and the addresses of the five start line locations. You choose when, where, and how many courses to go to within the 24-hour race period, between 7:00 p.m. May 14 - 7:00 p.m. May 15. Some courses will be open for the entire 24-hour period, while others may close between 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. When you arrive at each course, you’ll scan your QR code to receive a text with that 5K route in RunGo, providing turn-by-turn directions. At the end of that 5K route, scan your QR code again to check out. Then head to the next 5K course.

Where does the event take place?

The 5K courses will be in five different locations around Dallas and the surrounding suburbs. The exact locations will be revealed soon.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring:

  • Your mobile device with your email receipt QR code
  • Earbuds
  • Face covering (mandatory)
  • Water bottle
  • Snacks
  • Headlamp (if you're registered for the full 5x5K challenge, we will give you your very own custom Polestar headlamp)
  • Light colored or reflective clothing for running in the dark

To keep the event contactless, we will not be providing food or drinks at any of the courses. There will be toilet facilities available.

What apps do I need to download?

At each 5K course, we will text you the link to the route in RunGo. You must have this app installed on your mobile device to view the route and receive turn-by-turn directions. RunGo integrates with Strava, if you'd like to track your runs on that platform as well.

Can I walk the 5K?

Yes! This event is self-paced, so you may choose to walk or run.

What if I can’t complete all 5K courses in time?

No worries! Do as much as you are able or want to do - walk, run or skip a course altogether. The courses will close at 7:00 p.m. on May 15, however, so please do not continue on the courses after that time.

What if the weather is bad?

The 5x5K continues, rain or shine. If we determine that the safety of participants is in danger, we reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event.

When should I go to each 5K course?

You can choose which 5K course to go to and when, within the 24-hour period from 7:00 p.m. on May 14 to 7:00 p.m. on May 15, 2021. Some courses will close between 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. due to local regulations, while others will be open for the entire 24-hour period.

A staff member will be at each course to monitor social distancing. Each course has a maximum capacity, as determined by local officials. If you arrive at a course and it is at maximum capacity for participants (look for a red flag for "stop" or a green flag for "go"), you may be asked to wait in your car for a maximum of 20 minutes. When the sign is turned to green, you will know it is safe to return to the course starting line. Follow us on Twitter for course updates throughout the day.

What precautions do you have in place to keep me safe?

The 5x5K FOR GOOD is a completely contactless, COVID-compliant event. There will be a staff member at each course in a face covering to scan participants in and out, and to help enforce social distancing. Each participant must wear a face covering and stay at least 6 feet away from all other participants unless they are members of your household.

Each course has a maximum capacity as determined by local officials, so if you arrive at a course and it is at capacity (look for a red sign for "stop" or a green sign for "go"), please wait in your car until you see the green sign, when you know it is safe to return to the course.

Is the 5x5K USATF certified?

No. Our courses are measured virtually and may not meet USATF standards. This is a contactless, app-guided event, so we do not provide a timing chip or an official timing. RunGo will track your time as you complete the course, and of course you are welcome to time yourself using any other activity tracking app and share your times in Strava.

Fundraising

What are the charity partners I can support?

You can register to support Leukemia Texas, the Parkinson's Foundation, or the Preeclampsia Foundation. If you choose to support a charity partner with your participation, we will create a fundraising webpage for you (which you can personalize with your own photo and story) and give you tools to help you raise money. There’s no commitment, no requirement to raise a certain amount of money, so there is nothing to lose – and everything to gain. Stay tuned for more information about additional charity partners that you can support through your participation in the 5x5K FOR GOOD. Online Dashboard

Do I get an online Dashboard to track my progress?

If you registered with the option to support one of our charity partners, you will get an online dashboard to track your fundraising progress and send emails or post on social to ask for donations. If you register without the fundraising option, you do not have an online dashboard.
